Ottumwa, Ia,  Sunday Jan. 3rd,  0 degrees.  In the middle of town, on man-made ponds made to hold over-flow from the Des Moines river, locals push the snow aside and hit the gas on dirtbikes with ice-tires. Motocrossers and flattrackers get way over on tires that stick better the more you twist it. The screw heads sticking out are very sharp, cutting clothing, gloves, tie-downs and forks of bikes that happen to get tangled up on the course. These guys will do this every Saturday and Sunday that they can.
